An acoustic duo can play while guests arrive, for your entrances, and as you walk back up the aisle. To plan it, we’ll need the songs, the musicians’ location, and the person giving each cue.
Make a short cue list
Separate the prelude, family seating, wedding party entrance, your entrance and the recessional. Some couples use one processional song throughout. Others choose a separate song for the final entrance. Either way, send the order of the people walking so the musicians know what comes next.
Ask your planner or ceremony coordinator to give the cues. The start of a song should follow the people walking, rather than a guessed time on the schedule. If you have a reading or another moment that needs music, include that too.
Choose songs you enjoy as instrumentals
Listen for a melody you enjoy on its own. A familiar pop song can work well as an instrumental, but send the exact version you have in mind so we can discuss the arrangement. Our ceremony suggestions below give you a place to start.
Try walking to your entrance choice before the wedding. You do not have to time every step, but it helps to hear where you would like the entrance to begin. Give special requests to us at least a month ahead.
Plan the sound and the weather backup
Live instruments and spoken vows need separate attention. Confirm who is providing microphones for the officiant, readers and couple. At an outdoor ceremony, share the backup location as well as the original plan, including access to power and a suitable surface for the musicians.
Tell us when guests will start arriving and when the ceremony begins. That lets us plan seating music and finish setup before anyone takes a seat. Send us your date and venue, and let us know if you’d like an acoustic duo for the ceremony.
