A Wedding on Private Property in Franklin, NC

This June 24, 2023 wedding took us to a private property in Franklin, North Carolina. The plan used three separate parts of the property for the ceremony, tented dinner, and dancing, with live cocktail music in the same area guests would return to after dinner.

The couple chose “Tupelo Honey” by Arts Fishing Club for the bridal entrance and Rebirth Brass Band’s “Exactly Like You” for the recessional. Cocktail hour was scheduled for 5:30, followed by dinner under the tent. Their entrance selection was Talking Heads’ “Burning Down the House.”

Put equipment moves on the timeline

For this wedding, the ceremony sound system was also needed at dinner for music and announcements. That move belonged on the timeline alongside the guests’ transition to the tent.

If you are planning a wedding at a family home or private property, walk the route with your planner and musicians. Identify where each microphone and speaker needs to be, what can stay in place, and what must move. A second setup may be worthwhile if moving equipment would interrupt the celebration.

The first dance, “Coming Home” by Leon Bridges, was scheduled for 8 p.m. after dinner, back in the cocktail-hour space. You do not have to dance as soon as you enter the reception. If you place it after dinner, give guests time to reach the dance floor before the introduction.

For a wedding on private property near Franklin, send us your date and a rough idea of the ceremony, dinner, and dance areas. We’ll help work through the sound and equipment moves.
